Dreams: Do they hinder or strive a person?
The forums this week have raised many questions and thoughts. Before I read Great Expectation, I thought that dreams and having goals can help a person get through any situation. However, the question is; at what cost? I have worked and dreamed to be a doctor. I am one of those lucky ones, who have not given up on my dreams. I have worked hard and it has not being easy to reach my goals. Being a doctor is my life goal, but not my only dreams or goals. I will do all I can to reach that goal, but not at the extent of people. Although I have that goal of becoming a doctor, I will not hurt or step on people to reach that goal. Pip, in GE, begins to lose that site. He begins to step on those he claims to love to get to where he wants to be. Joe is the only constant in his life. Furthermore, Joe is the only person who has Pip's best interest at heart. No matter what Pip does or says; Joe always has faith in him. I think Joe is the hero of this story, not Pip.
